Do you know how cool earthworms are? Well, they are very cool! Kids find them to be so much fun, and super interesting! During this workshop we will do a few very cool things! First is actually to learn a little about what earthworms do, how they do it, and the kids will even get to “cook” for and feed the worms in a live working "worm farm" that houses hundreds of worms! This will introduce kids of all ages to the natural processes of decomposition that occur on our interesting and awesome planet Earth! We will go on a worm hunt using hand tools, "charm" worms out of the ground like magic (hopefully), and the kiddos will get to name pet worms and take some home to release into their yards, gardens, woods, or favorite parks! Don't worry, no invasive worms here!
We welcome kids from 4 and up, but do not be afraid to bring along a younger sibling as there will be age appropriate activities for all!
We will meet at the main parking lot of SPAC off Route 50 which is free to park in, and then we will walk together to the park on Geyser Loop Road where the stream is! If you have any questions please contact me.
I will be joined by my wife (Mollie) and daughter (Ellenora, 5), and there will be plenty of opportunities for fun. You are welcome to bring lunch as we are going to mini-picnic after.
Community support help fund my projects to bring environmental education to kids of all backgrounds, and continue to provide this type of content in a way that is always low cost or free. That is why my tickets are on a sliding scale. If cost is prohibitive, please contact me through my website for scholarship information.
